Frequently asked questions

What are latency, jitter and loaded latency?

Latency is how long a small request takes to come back while your line is idle. Jitter is how much that time wobbles between requests. Loaded latency is the same measurement taken during the download or upload. If it climbs a lot under load (bufferbloat), video calls and games will stutter whenever someone on your network starts a big download.

Multi-thread or single-thread?

Multi-thread pulls from every CDN in parallel and shows the most your line can carry. Single-thread uses one CDN, closer to what one download or one video stream gets. On fast or long-distance links, single-thread usually comes out lower.

Why is my result lower than my plan's speed?

The test measures everything between your browser and the CDN, so Wi-Fi, a VPN or proxy, and other downloads on your network all count against it. For the closest match to your plan, plug in a cable and pause other transfers.

How much data does a test use?

Up to 15 seconds of downloading and 15 of uploading, at whatever speed your line manages. That is a few hundred megabytes on a 100 Mbps line and can pass 2 GB on gigabit, so skip it on a capped mobile plan.
